The short version
Temple of Quetzal is a single-player puzzle game. There is no account to make and we never ask who you are, so we do not collect information that identifies you personally. Your game progress lives on your device. We do use one third-party tool — AppsFlyer — to measure how the game is discovered and installed; it collects a limited amount of device and usage data, described below.
Information we collect
None that identifies you. The game keeps a small amount of ordinary save data in your device's own app storage, so the temple is where you left it when you come back:
- Your progress — which chambers you have cleared and the suns you earned on each.
- Your purse and anything bought at the temple cache.
- Lifetime statistics such as best score, best cascade, and expeditions played.
- The name you type on the Wayfarer screen, if you choose to change it.
- Your preferences for haptics, reduced motion, and glyph symbols.
This save data never leaves your device. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else.
Analytics and install measurement
To understand how many people discover and install Temple of Quetzal, and to see whether the game is running well, we use AppsFlyer, a third-party mobile measurement service. AppsFlyer collects a limited amount of technical and usage data from your device on our behalf:
- Device identifiers, such as your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and vendor identifier (IDFV).
- Basic device and technical details, such as device model, operating-system version, and language.
- App activity, such as installs, launches, and in-game events used to measure performance.
We also run advertising campaigns to promote the game, and we use AppsFlyer to measure which campaigns lead to installs. To do this, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and the data above may be shared with the advertising networks we work with, so an install can be attributed to the ad you saw. Under Apple's rules this counts as tracking, so the app first asks for your permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt before using the IDFA for this purpose. If you decline, AppsFlyer measures installs using privacy-preserving methods only and your IDFA is not used.
The game itself shows no ads, and we never sell your data. AppsFlyer processes this data as our service provider under its own privacy policy.
How we use information
- To restore your progress, purse, and settings the next time you open the game.
- To show your own statistics and relics back to you on the Wayfarer screen.
- To measure app installs and overall performance through AppsFlyer, so we can see how the game is doing and improve it.
That is the entire list. There is no other purpose.
Information sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Your save data stays in your device's app storage and is never transmitted to us.
We share the limited technical and usage data described in "Analytics and install measurement" with AppsFlyer, which acts as our service provider strictly to measure installs and app performance. AppsFlyer does not receive data that identifies you by name.
The other third party involved is the app store you downloaded from. Your download and any store account activity are between you and Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy, and we receive no personal information from it.
Data retention
Your save data is stored on-device until you delete it. Removing the app from your device removes all of it. The technical and usage data collected by AppsFlyer is retained by AppsFlyer according to its own privacy policy and retention periods; we keep no separate server-side records that identify you.
Your rights
You are in complete control. Because everything lives on your device:
- Access — your progress and statistics are shown to you in the game itself.
- Deletion — uninstalling the app permanently deletes every trace of your save data.
- Opt-out — if your device shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, you can decline it, and you can limit ad tracking in your device settings at any time. Uninstalling the app stops any further data collection.
We hold no server-side records that identify you personally. For data processed by AppsFlyer, you may also exercise your rights under its privacy policy.
Children's privacy
Not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
